To celebrate its recent recognition at one of the “30 Most Beautiful Bars in the World” by CNN.com, the Rooftop Garden Bar is offering a 15% discount on all drinks from 5pm – 6pm. Located in the Rex Hotel, the Rooftop Garden Bar has been one of Saigon’s most famous spots for an evening cocktail since the start of the Vietnam War in 1965.
During the war, the hotel’s conference centre was the site of the “Five O’Clock Follies”, a nickname given to the US military’s official 5pm press briefing. After the press briefing, most of the war journalists would retire to the hotel’s rooftop bar for dinner and drinks, and so the tradition was born.
The Rooftop Garden Bar has retained much of its old charms with neon lights, elephant statues, bonsai trees and a casual open-air ambiance. The bar is located in downtown Saigon and is a great spot to watch the sun set over the bustling city.
The “Five O’Clock Follies” promotion is valid daily from 5pm-6pm until December 31, 2010. All drinks sold during this time whether alcoholic or non-alcoholic will be discounted by 15%.
